Because that’s what I see here. Pain so profound, it literally destroyed him to point he had to just go completely numb inside.

I mean, look at where he’s gazing. Naomi is looking down at the corpse, but Cas can’t bring himself to look. He’s trying to avoid seeing what he’s done, even though he knows it’s not real.

If ever there was evidence for Dean/Cas, a big chunk of it is in Castiel breaking here. After all, not a single one of those bodies is Sam, and we know Cas considers him a friend too.
