Dean watches novelas AND knows how to make homemade tamales?

New headcanon: Dean and Sam spent one summer in Texas with a Mexican family, when Sam was still a toddler. The abuelita and the mom made tamales every day to sell to factory workers and day laborers in need of lunch. The family made more tamales (and more money) when they had extra help in the kitchen. Abuelita walked Dean through the whole process, then stationed him at her side with a bowl of masa, a stack of corn husks, and two spoons. Together they prepped hundreds of tamales every day while watching Maria la del Barrio and Mexican wrestling.

Dean’s tragic headshake is great.  But I can’t get over Sam’s impatient body language.  It just screams, I cannot believe I have to put up with this bullshit.
