the jedi mind tricks, the british accent, the mystery of her parents (and the obvious difficulty of them being either han/leia or luke), and the plot symmetry of a Kenobi training Skywalkers to a Skywalker training a Kenobi

During Rey’s vision you can hear someone that sounds A LOT like Alec Guinness say her name.

It actually *is* Alec Guinness saying her name – followed by Ewan McGregor saying “these are your first steps.”

JJ Abrams said in an interview the sound editors cut out the sound of “Rey” from old audio of Mr Guinness saying “afraid” (and Ewan came in for a bit of post-prod line recording for his). That way they had both the young and old versions of Obi Wan talking to her. 🙂
