Hmm. Excited about s12 (though i’ll be more excited at the end of this season and i can kinda see what we’re heading into) but very nervous about Carver taking a step back. I know he’s got another project going, and he won’t be writing the season finale like he normally does. Hope this doesn’t come across as negativity, as we still do have a few writers on board with the destiel and dean/cas in general, but Carver’s the showrunner. Canon destiel (in some form) optimism wavering a bit:-(

Nah, worries and negativity aren’t the same thing.

Well, the CW only ordered a pilot, and they’ll decide which of the handful they ordered they’re going to pick up (DORIS DORIS DORIS DORIS) and which stay on the shelf. I’d be really surprised if they do more than a couple, unless there’s a lot more going on in a bad way with the other CW shows, most of which I don’t watch.

I just found out about the renewal, and I haven’t really seen anything about Carver scaling back his showrunner duties, but my guess is that he’ll be filming his pilot when he normally would have been writing the season finale, because if they’re going to consider it for fall, it’s got to film ASAP.  Right now, he’s going to want to keep all his options open–if his pilot doesn’t go to series, he’s still got a job.

Actually, I’ve been thinking about why I haven’t been writing much gonna be canon Destiel meta lately, and I came to the conclusion that just having it stated in canon that they actually do love each other and they both know it, even if it was kind of in a round-about way, makes it canon enough for me**.

Because really, we are not about to hear Dean Winchester making any flowery declarations about how much he loves Cas, that’s just not how he operates.  The way Dean Winchester lets you know he loves you is through his actions.  Come to think, it was Dean wrapping Cas in that damn blanket that tipped me over into thinking Dean has finally FIGURED SHIT OUT, because that’s exactly what I’m talking about.

I mean, Sam has already reassured each of them, separately, that they two are going to save the other one, in the very same tone of voice that he used back in season 9 when he had to tell Dean that Metatron had taken Cas.  That’s a huge THEY LOVE EACH OTHER sign, that is.

My bet is that any canon declaration would involve a lot of stammering and avoidance of explicitly using the word “love,” and probably a lot of Yeah, me toos.

Kind of like the way he told Charlie that he loved her, actually, and I’m counting that one as explicit confirmation because of the Significant Eye Contact during that scene.  (My ideal reveal is Cas asking Dean to do something that Dean normally would bitch and moan about doing, and Dean simply saying, “As you wish,”  with Significant Eye Contact.  And then Sam trips over his feet.)

I mean, “The people who love me,” and, “Everyone you love,” ARE CANON.  Even if TPTB break the relationship to flinders (about the time I go ice skating in hell, I reckon), they said it and THERE ARE NO TAKE BACKSIES.

____________

** That’s just ME, now.  I know this isn’t enough for a lot of people to count, but that’s why we have menus.  I can certainly understand why some folks need it to be more explicit.

Given that Dabb might be taking over and he’s dropped three references to the Princess Bride? That’s precisely how it would go down.

Here is a link to a Princess Bride meta in the Sherlock fandom. I think it can be useful for Supernatural too.

I like the part where Moffat says it’s a story about storytelling. It can’t get any more meta than this.

Given that Dean referenced the Princess Bride in “Reichenbach” for the first time. Can we consider that Supernatural and Sherlock are throwing gauntlets at each other?

Homoerotic jousting between my favourite tv shows, can I survive?

Reblogging for your edification.

(Dabb already dropped a reference to Andre the Giant in the 5th season I guess because the plot of the second season was essentially all Princess Bride.)
