11×23 reminds me of so many things it’s crazy. Come to think of it, s4 finale was Dean telling Cas “Come die for us.” I guess it’s fitting s11 would end with Dean telling Cas “I want you to live even without me.” Their initial bonding was through sacrifice. It’s a high time they learn less high stake language of love.

This is possibly one of the most beautiful messages I’ve ever got and I literally don’t know how to respond to it. >.>

if you look at all their big sacrifice plays, they’ve never got it right, really… I think 7×23 is about the only other time they got to have a real and meaningful conversation before it happened. (8×23 they STARTED one but it got derailed by cupid) And that time they were both at least sort of thinking they might die… at least this time when they had time to talk they had their earlier conversation so they were in a not-terrible place all episode and with Dean assuming Cas would survive so he could tell him this. Since he had the luxury of deciding who did or didn’t get to come die with him for once in their lives 😛

I guess it’s part of a slow process of them choosing to live and choosing to be together – Dean didn’t want to die either and didn’t do the self-destruct play, like he did in season 9 or 10′s conclusions. Picking the better way and talking his way out of the dramatic conclusion was a powerful decision he wanted to live, and that was after he told Cas he should have something to live for outside of Dean…

I mean there’s still a season at least left to go. They have some progress to make still but they’re doing better :’)
