Reading through the notes of this photo I saw a bit of a pattern I want to share with you.
Most people added tags or replies joking that they fit the first qualification but not the second. And I think there is a fundamental misunderstanding about this quote that I want to address.
This quote does not say “you as an alive and functioning member of a capitalist ableist society who is also queer are revolutionary”
It says
“You as an alive and functioning queer are revolutionary” It is not saying that only if you get up at six every morning and work a nine-to-five job and do everything society expects of you are you a revolutionary.
It is saying that existing as a queer person who is not dead, and lives every day doing whatever you need to do to survive as a queer person in whatever society you live in is revolutionary.
That includes people who are in and out of the closet, people who don’t function as mainstream society perceives as normal, people who do what they have to do to survive, anyone queer person who goes through every day in the society that would much rather we don’t exist- is by existing revolting against that society.
You as an alive and functioning queer person are revolutionary, no matter what your definition of functioning may be.
