how the hell do you explain to someone that transformative fiction is mostly the realm of personal fantasy and has ALWAYS been an outlet for safe exploration of taboo topics, and is absolutely not an appropriate or productive place to be enforcing morals and values and practicing social justice activism? that the very core of everything anti-shippers/fandom activists are doing is so fundamentally misguided that the only way to really get this shit right is to start over from scratch with the understanding that fandom CAN be a platform for social justice, but treating it like a safe space where everything needs to be inoffensive and setting a good example is fucking harmful especially to the women and queer people who pioneered their own spaces that they’re no longer free to be themselves in because of this moral outrage bullshit?
