This used to be a thing for chicken pox, before there was a vaccine. I never went to one – it was pretty inevitable that someone would catch it anyway, without the need for that. Bearing in mind, the vaccine for chicken pox apparently didn’t become available in the US until 1995. So it kinda made sense if you wanted/needed to time your child’s exposure and illness.
