Art Theft Going Around

youkaiyume:

So lately it seems some dick is trying to profit off of my Le Dragon Noir picture by selling shirts on Petotee. I’ve had various people report to me that they saw it circling through various ads. I myself actually saw an ad for it while I was browsing Instagram. No matter how many times I report it it seems to keep popping up under different names. Looks like this:

It’s obvious the art thief took this off of my redbubble site since that’s the only place I upload the design for t-shirt form with the brush stroke edges. You can see where they shittily removed the watermark in the middle of Toothless cuz there’s a black line going through his arm. The dumbass didn’t even have the wit to remove my artist stamp on the corner WHICH BEARS MY REAL NAME BTW as well as my pseudonym. While it’s an annoyance the only thing I can really do is to keep reporting it where I can. Hopefully if I do it enough times they’ll just give up

I’d like to ask your guy’s favor. If you see an ad for this design floating around on any website like facebook, instagram, etc. that IS NOT my teefury listingredbubble listing, storenvy listings, society 6 listing, or qwertee listing,  under MY NAME  (YoukaiYume) PLEASE let me know and give me the link so I can confirm. If you’d like to help further it would mean a lot if you could help me report it and provide the sources listed above. Thanks so much for all of your help, guys!

It has been brought to my attention that a whole mess of JACKWADS are stealing @convallariini‘s art.

Specifically in this case, art she worked super hard on for this year’s Pinefest challenge.

For everybody reblogging this image:

THIS IS THE ORIGINAL SOURCE

Maig is crazy talented and amazing to work with and one of the nicest, friendliest people you’ll ever meet. You love the art, wanna share it? Show your friends? GREAT. Believe me, I get it. It’s fucking beautiful.

So reblog it.

Don’t fucking repost it. Don’t use it for your own stories.

And see that, in the bottom right-hand corner?

THAT IS HER WATERMARK.

Don’t fucking crop it out.

Art theft is theft. It’s damaging to the artist, it’s insulting, and it’s a shitty thing to do.

Always double-check your sources, guys. Don’t be a fucking dick.

This has been a fucking PSA.

So, as some of you might have seen, @ruthieconnell posted some of my fan art on her Instagram story today! Which is super cool

What is less cool is that somebody added their watermark on top of my art, even though my own watermark is clearly visible in the corner of her dress. This piece was made by me for another fan, @royalrowena, for a FUNDRAISER as part of GISHWHES.

Please don’t do this? Don’t steal people’s art. Give artists the credit we deserve.

(Shoutout to Ruth for appreciating this though like hollaaaaa. Thanks so much.)

As @deanismypatronass pointed out, it could also be the case that Ruth may have used a resharing app that includes the poster she shares the post from in the corner, which means that this fan account posted my art to their account without asking.

That’s still uncool. That’s still stealing. Don’t repost without giving proper credit!

A couple of really wonderful people commented on the stolen Instagram post to remove my art, which I saw yesterday. Thank you so much for the support.

However: the owner of the fan account has deleted your comments. This to me says they are actively trying to pass my art off as their own.

I’ve gotten messages from other artist(s) about this same account reposting their fan art as well.

Could you please continue to reblog this and comment on stolen posts? Thank you, guys. You’re the best <333

So it turns out that even if I say no, if a company doesn’t like my answer, they’ll do it anyway. A big “fuck you” to poprageous, who I contacted last year, received a reply that essentially said “no I won’t pay you,” and then did it anyway 12 months later (I suppose she hoped I would forget about her?).

Before I replied to her first scummy email where she only says that she’d send me a FREE PAIR (oh WOW), I made a blog post

I had recently undergone other companies trying to do the same thing and her email reply to me was just nothing short of incredibly shitty. After seeing my post (which didn’t mention her company or anything) she thought it would be a good idea to send me an email trying to make ME feel bad that I didn’t just ASK for money for using my artwork. That it was on ME to ask about royalties, not about her fucking company to actually fairly pay artists or anything.

“I saw your post – what do u want to get paid? Let’s work out a royalty.  jeeeez all u had to do was ask.”

Like seriously?

All I had to do was ask? That’s pretty hilarious, considering she asked, I said no, and she went ahead with it anyway.

Regardless, this is shit. Companies shouldn’t act like this. People using creator’s works just because they exist and feel like they should be able to is just absolutely bullshit.

The most appalling thing about this is seriously the fact that I said no and she did it anyway. I said no and she did it anyway.

This is how little most companies respect and regard artists. Thanks a lot, Cher Park.

Feel free to let her know that it’s not acceptable to pull this bullshit with her company email, cher@poprageous.com – please don’t be rude or anything, but this is definitely not okay and she needs to not do this to other artists in the future.

Oh yes, let me not forgot to mention: she has no trace of credit on the image, this time. She posted an instagram earlier a year ago with credit to my name, but it seems she’d rather remove it so that I not find out, I guess.

Good job, Cher Park.

Oh good! There are leggings, too!

hey everybody! don’t buy this shit! fuck these guys!

Do not buy from these terrible people and spread the word that Poprageous can’t be trusted.

booooooooooooooooooooooost

The two items in question seem to be gone from the website, but still signal boosting in case they’ve taken anything from other artists.
