#translation: I just want all of this over. I wish I never rebelled in the first place. None of this would of happened. I screwed up. I killed the one person who I ever loved. Its all my fault

It blows my mind that I’ve seen this called a destruction of Cas’ character development. I mean, I’m pretty sure that’s grief and pain talking, not Cas. This is, after all, barely minutes after Metatron informs Cas that Dean is dead, and angels, properly controlled, don’t feel much of any emotion. Cas just wants that back, because it would be easier than hurting like he is, and then dying, like he knows he will due to the failing grace.

#love love love love love love love how he puffs himself up #I don’t know if it’s a conscious thing Misha does or it’s just a wonderful accident #but it happens multiple times other than the two times he shows his wings to Dean #peacocking Cas #you’re doing it right

#you can just visualize his wings flaring out

Cannot be unseen.

I love the way that in general Cas moves like he has wings.  Like, seriously, if you watch the way Misha navigates his body when he’s in character, he moves his shoulders differently, with a real sense of weigh and presence, and as odd as it sounds, he incorporates the wings into his body language even if you can’t see them.  He even leaves space for them when he sits.  He never sits all the way back in a chair.  They’re clearly part of Castiel’s internal map of himself, and that’s such lovely attention to detail.

someone should ask him about this at a con

Do you know how much I would give for the Winchesters to mention Cas and the Ghostfacers freak and start babbling about an angel who came to them saying stuff about the apocalypse and for Dean to throw his head back and laugh. And when Sam and the Ghostfacers look all confused Dean just goes, “Oh man, I totally told him to prank you guys but I didn’t think he’d actually do it.”

It’s a little difficult to see, but look closely, right when Cas says I’m okay, he’s shaking his head, nullifying the very words that leave his mouth. Cas isn’t okay, because he wants to be with Dean, but Dean had made it very clear that he didn’t want Cas around. And Cas will always put what Dean wants in front of his own needs.  So sure, he’ll go on pretending, but no⎯he’s not okay. Still, the worst part is that Dean doesn’t see that. He’s not looking for the wounded expression on Cas’s face. As Dean is turned away from Cas he gives an almost imperceptible nod, and we what he’s thinking: that Cas is okay without him. The first “good“ he utters is to himself, it’s the broken mantra of Dean Winchester. Well, good, Cas is okay without him, and how could he ever be stupid enough to believe that Cas could need him as much as he needs Cas? Good, he says again, stronger now as he lets the walls build up around him.  He’ll strap on his boots, slap a strong look on his face, and drown his emotions.  He’s never needed anyone before, it’s always been Dean Winchester against the world.  How could he let himself believe that one angel would make that any different?

what i mean when i call a character perfect is “wow look at how flawed you are, how broken and three dimensional and well written. look how much of a disaster you are and how you are constantly torn between right and wrong and you make so many mistakes along the way wow look how human you are”

so basically when i say they are perfect what i mean is thank god they aren’t

2014 2014 just like the future Dean has seen
