Hi, i saw your post about the character that dean winchester is based on was bisexual, but who is he based on?? :))

mishcollin:

okay so sam and dean were based on sal paradise and dean moriarty from the book on the road by jack kerouac! they’re two best friends who basically travel around the entire country aimlessly and it was the most popular book of the beatnik generation in the 1950’s, which inspired kripke to create sam and dean (fun fact: sam was originally named sal and sam and dean were originally two journalist best friends, not brothers.)

dean moriarty (based on the flagrantly bisexual neal cassady, named after james dean) was bi in on the road and had sex with men as much as he had sex with women. a lot of the “racy” gay sex scenes were cut between dean and carlo and dean and sal from the original copy of OTR.

(also this is a weird fun fact so william burroughs—one of jack kerouac’s beatnik writer friends and who the character “Old Bull” is based on in OTR—lived on my aunt and uncle’s street in Lawrence KS. weeeeird huh?)

Dean & Charlie go shopping (x)

Dean is a supportive shopping partner.

Dean is like that gay best friend :’)

Dean is like that gay best friend

They are each other’s gay best friends

oh god john tho

John: “Dean where have you been all day”

Dean: “Me and charlie went to the mall and I helped approve of her wardrobe”

John: “….”

Dean: “….”

John: “….”

Dean: “….it’s not as gay as it sounds?”

[muffled from the next room]

Sam: “it’s gayer than it sounds”

Sam: “s’gay”

Sam: “tip of the iceberg really”

Sam: “oh fuck you haven’t met cas yet”

Sam: *distant cackling* welcome to oz bitch

The Castiel shows up, walks up to Dean, stands uncomfortable close and says “Hello” to John and Sam can’t help but leave the room again, cause he’s laughing so hard he’s about to piss himself.

IT GOT BETTER

imagine charlie and dean lounging on the MoL main table, just hanging out and having a chat, and Charlie brings up the Supernatural novels because she’s curious as hell and Dean very seldom agrees to discuss them. She starts talking about earlier books and mentions Victor, saying…

ssjdebusk:

friendly reminder that all they had to change was that John Winchester wasn’t his father.

This is Dean with no alteration other than the life he was born into. If Bobby and Ellen were his parents and he didn’t have to grow up the way John raised him. This would be Dean. This is who Dean is, if he was able to express himself in a healthy way. This is who Dean is underneath all that John Winchester got to be a manly-man bullshit.
