This is very much in like with most fanfiction where the two cuddle and Cas lays his hand on the hand on the mark his grace burned
but it’s still not supportive enough to be lifting a grown man.
So look at this
Cas didn’t grab Dean out of hell by his shoulder, he held him close against his chest with one arm while the other hand wielded his angel blade and fought off demons in order to save him from hell
Cas said he gripped you hard a raised you from perdition, and you know what that means?
this wasn’t the first time Cas had done this. Dean had already become dark-souled almost-demon when he brought him from hell, right? So that’s why the ANGEL HUG I LOVE YOU thing worked
tl;dr: stop saying Cas grabbed Dean up by his shoulder and dragged him out of hel – He actually clutched him to his chest and lifted him out in his arms.
He specializes in being being heterosexual and kicking monster ass.
2. There are three things Dean Winchester absolutely does not do:
Shorts.
Chick flick moments.
And dudes.
3. He’s also always 100% honest with himself.
4. This is Sam. Also known as “the less handsome one.”
He specializes in having stupidly long, girly hair and being really tall.
5. Dean absolutely does not project his personal issues onto Sam.
Like wearing women’s underwear.
Or being attracted to guys.
Or flirting with Cas.
6. He’s a bit of a weirdo.
(But if you touch even one stupidly long hair on his head, I’ll skip rope with your entrails.)
7. And this…is Castiel.
He specializes in being a weird, dorky little guy and having stupidly pretty, stupidly blue eyes with stupidly long lashes, that you just want to heterosexually drown in forever.
Oh yeah, and then there’s the whole “angel” thing.
8. Cas doesn’t really get sarcasm. Or pop culture references (though he’s kinda gotten better at that last part.)
When he’s confused, he tilts his head to the side and scrunches up his eyebrows, and you kinda just want to heterosexually hold him forever and ever.
9. And most importantly, Dean Winchester is NOT attracted to Castiel.
He doesn’t have wet dreams about the sound of his voice.
He doesn’t touch him just a little more than he needs to, and think about it for days on end.
He never thinks about what it would be like to cook for him, and cuddle up on the sofa, and watch chick flicks together.
I mean, yeah, he does occassionally fantasize about what it would be like to run his fingers through his hair, but don’t ALL straight guys do that with their platonic bro-pals?
And yeah, he has occasionally gotten a heterosexual boner while looking at him, but that’s only natural. I mean, just look at the guy.
So yeah, Dean Winchester is not attracted to Cas. Because Dean Winchester is 100% straight.
10. So yeah , that’s Team Free Will: one ex-bloody junky, a high school dropout and my boyf- my huggy bear- and CAS.
My favourite character parallel for Dean Winchester may be Lorelai Gilmore from “Gilmore Girls”.
It is not such a far jump from Dean Winchester to Lorelai since they practically stole Jared from “Gilmore Girls” mid season five. I was an avid fan of the show at the time (I still am), and the parallels between Dean/Cas and Lorelai/Luke are so obvious to me now, expecially after season 12. It also was a slow burn romance between two friends with CRAZY chemistry, and I wouldn’t mind Dean W./Cas relationship’s portrayal to be based on it.
Btw, there is A LOT OF PLAID between the two shows!
LORELAI/DEAN W. PARALLELS:
A person who became a parent way too young.
A parent of a prodigy “child” with their eyes set on an Ivy League college, and a better future.
Hard working single parent, who sacrifices everything to give the “kid” all they can at the expense of their own personal growth and happiness (but they are happy when the kid is happy.) They have been fighting financial struggles their whole “parent” lives, but they always made sure that the “kid” gets everything they need, even if it meant doing things they were uncomfortable with (like borrowing from Lorelai’s parents/hustling pool and stealing).
It’s great how they are nice and obvious about adhering to standard romance tropes 😀
Sam is like I AM ALSO RIGHT HERE, but anyway, we don’t have time for you two to be all pissy or romantic or whatever like last time, we have to get on with the case at hand, Lucifer is probably right behind us!
Mary isn’t even surprised. She thinks they’re a thing anyway, I mean every interaction she’s had with them they’ve behaved like husbands so what else would she think…
I’ve been noodling over this post for the past few days, and I think it’s almost right, in that Dean throws out the sexual barb because he almost certainly knows that he’s Cas’s weak spot.
And yet… I think the person Dean’s really digging at here isn’t Cas, but himself. He’s the one sexually attracted to Cas: he’s the one who can’t stop looking at Cas’s lips, who always looks so uncomfortable when Cas crowds his personal space. And Dean hates himself for it, because he knows that this is an angel of the Lord, the holiest of the holy, and he—well, what is he? He’s the blood-stained fuck-up, the man-sized hole of Daddy issues and neediness, the demon who never deserved to be saved from the Pit. What business does he have feeling something so dark and needy and human about an entity as good and heavenly as Cas, someone who so profoundly believes in Dean’s non-existent righteousness, who talks about him in terms of “special” and “saved” and “profound bond”, who rebelled against the divine plan and the entire Host of Heaven, and sacrificed everything, just for him, all for him? Dean knows it’s disrespectful, this dark and small and petty human sexual attraction, he knows it’s wrong and unreciprocated and he wishes he could make himself stop but he can’t, he just can’t.
Remember what the Dean!Leviathan says about Dean? “He doesn’t have relationships; he has applications for sainthood”. For nobody is that more applicable than Cas (which is why Cas’s eventual betrayal hurts Dean so much). To S5!Dean, Cas is a concept, a creature so innocent and pure Dean didn’t even think it existed until it saved him from eternal damnation.
So when Cas revokes his faith in him in that second GIF; when Cas says, essentially, “you are no longer worth my faith in you”, that’s when Dean snaps, because that hurts so much, too much, and all he can think to do is lash out with the one thing he thinks will hurt the most — except he doesn’t stop to wonder who he’s really trying to hurt here.
That’s why, when Dean says “Blow me”, Cas seems more confused than anything else — he can tell that Dean is angry, and he’s angry too, but more than that, Cas doesn’t understand why Dean chose to express himself with those specific words.
But to Dean, the innuendo makes perfect sense; it’s a form of self-harm, of self-torture. In the same way he bitterly tells Kevin (twice) that angels are “junkless”, it reminds him of what he wants but can never, ever have.
Because Dean trained under Alistair, he knows all the best ways to torture a man, to make him break, and deep down he knows that what he feels for Cas is what will break him; or, more specifically, what will break him is that Cas can never feel what he feels, that angels just don’t have the equipment to feel that way, that whenever they try, it just breaks them apart.
And I eagerly await the day Dean realizes he was wrong.
