I want to point this scene out. When TFW come back from Scooby Verse, there’s a reappearance of the Negative Space between Dean/Cas and Sam that we’ve been seeing ALL season.

I can’t remember, but I’m pretty sure that TFW were standing together when they got zapped back. And it’s not like they were put In the place where they first disappeared. No. The writers/directors/TPTB are putting space between Dean/Cas and Sam AGAIN, reiterating that there is a gap between Dean/Cas as a unit, and Sam.

Plus, Dean mentions taking a bullet for Scooby Doo, in the same episode that he directly compares Cas to Scooby Doo.

I’m not saying that Destiel is going canon any time soon, but uh, we’re pretty fucking close to it.

and how they appeared right behind the sofas too.. it shouldve bern obvious that sam wouldnt wanna spend time in the dean cave. But cas couldnt say no to dean, so that spot was always his.

It’s not love, Dean swears, it isn’t.  It’s just preference, right now, that’s all. Dean just likes him the most. Likes to be near him. Likes the smell of his shampoo, likes it when his phone rings and it’s Castiel on the line, but that’s not love, Dean would know.

Not love, not yet. It’s not love, it’s just the way things are just better when he’s near, a part of things, a part of Dean’s everyday routine. His name there, filling up every line, every page in Dean’s book of days.  Taking the remote out of Sam’s hands to change the channel or kneeling close at Dean’s side after a fight, it’s not love but it’s close, it hits home right in the center of Dean’s chest whenever he turns his head and finds Castiel smiling at him, just at him and nobody else – that’s not love, though.  Dean would know.

If there was ever gonna be anybody for him, someone for Dean to take home and say finders keepers, he thinks it really might be Castiel –  but it’s not love, just something like it.  Something that looks like love, sometimes; something that sounds like love and tastes like love and feels just like it but it’s not love, Dean’s not stupid.  He tells himself it’s not love because he’d know.  It’s not love because Dean knows what love feels like, and this isn’t it: Love is oiled brakes and love is dinner made from scratch and love is watching someone’s back as they walk away without a single glance behind, and so this can’t be love, Dean knows it’s not because it doesn’t hurt, it doesn’t burn, it doesn’t leave him strung out and hung over the next morning.

This isn’t love.

Whatever it is, it isn’t much.  Just golden light creeping across the kitchen floor in the late morning and pouring Castiel a second cup of coffee, it’s just warm hands resting on the crook of his elbow to help him stand up, it’s not like love at all.  It’s not what he remembers.  It’s not a love he knows.

But there are signs – the flowers on the kitchen table that Castiel left there for him.  Castiel’s shoes left in the doorway of the library, laces untied.  The way he nods off in the front seat of the car with his shoulder against Castiel’s sometimes, when it’s four in the morning and Cas says he’ll drive for a while. He likes that Castiel’s dark hair curls against the back of his neck, he likes to look at the bare slice of skin just under Castiel’s left ear.  That’s not love, is it?  Dean can’t tell, can’t be sure.  It’s not the final sum, the grand total of everything they are and are not to each other, it’s just part of the equation.  Dean tells himself that If this was love he wouldn’t be able to sleep at night. If this was love, he’d be singing love songs at two thirty a.m. along with the radio, he’d be doing ninety down the highway just to match the pace of his heart.

But sometimes he’ll sit there watching Castiel, with his arm thrown back over the arm of the couch watching This Old House, and he allows to himself – it might be, one day, if something ever changes, if Dean ever gets the courage – it’s not love, he knows, he knows.  Just something like it.

Look at how dramatic these nerds are.  Dean is literally and deliberately out of view behind a woman who at that moment is returning Castiel’s good will.

‘Good luck’

And Cas needs it because about a second later.  Dean practically appears out of nowhere.  That dramatic shit of appearing out of nowhere used to be Cas’ thing.  Dean’s all pleased with himself for surprising Cas, and Cas is literally taken aback and speechless

IKR!

And then just after this sudden surprising reappearance by Dean, wham bam suddenly Cas himself becomes a target for the Angel who’s been in the area specifically targeting people with a broken heart.

Dean kicked Cas out of what he thought was his home and away from those he thought cared for him, giving him no valid reason and leaving him homeless and living in a GasnSip cupboard. Then he turns up with a grin and acts like everything is all fine

In the words of one of the heartbroken victims, the one who just got dumped *ahem*, who does that?!!

I’m sure there’s a reason for Cas being targeted by the Angel just after Dean turns up, I just can’t….quite….put 2 and 2 together….

Pffft who am I kidding.

random question: what are the most pivotal dean/cas scenes for you guys? the ones that you think of when you think of dean and cas being in love and all that jazz

The point of no return for me.
I can’t understand how can anyone watch this episode and still see their love for each other as platonic.

And let’s don’t forget that this episode includes the lines they used for a blatantly romantic scene in Bloodlines.

Charlie can’t flirt with men…

Ahhhhh!!! This gifset has killed me and I am typing from the afterlife…

“he makes eye contact and smiles a bit”

“well that cLEARLY means he’S INTO YOU what eLSE COULD THAT MEAN”

Dean Winchester says

about eye contact

eye

contact

Marghe don’t be delusional they’ve clearly been looking at some chick behind each other for 9 years.

I mean it’s not like people seem to notice or anything

It’s not like Dean calls Cas a “weird dorky little guy” with a far away gaze or “devastatingly handsome” in front of his whole family and then goes on to postulate that nope no that, that’s not what I meant, here have some overcompensating dudebro gay panic bullshit about waitresses smelling like food to make up for my jealous outburst.

That never happened. They were always looking at some hot chick behind each other and those characters who keep commenting that they’re boyfriends or have unrequited love for each other or use each other as a weakness //in the show// are all completely imagining things and you can tell cos they both brush it off so quickly and they never get bothered by it at all, ever. It’s never used as an actual plot point either.
