ssjdebusk:

He called Cas
gave him no details on what changed
told him to get there
and cas stole a car from a pimp and drove straight there
until his car stopped running a few miles away
and then he just fucking walked the rest of the way
on a phone call
that if knowing dean was “i need you how fast can you be here”
I will never be over that the above things are canon
that, my friends, is love

It’s a little difficult to see, but look closely, right when Cas says I’m okay, he’s shaking his head, nullifying the very words that leave his mouth. Cas isn’t okay, because he wants to be with Dean, but Dean had made it very clear that he didn’t want Cas around. And Cas will always put what Dean wants in front of his own needs.  So sure, he’ll go on pretending, but no⎯he’s not okay. Still, the worst part is that Dean doesn’t see that. He’s not looking for the wounded expression on Cas’s face. As Dean is turned away from Cas he gives an almost imperceptible nod, and we what he’s thinking: that Cas is okay without him. The first “good“ he utters is to himself, it’s the broken mantra of Dean Winchester. Well, good, Cas is okay without him, and how could he ever be stupid enough to believe that Cas could need him as much as he needs Cas? Good, he says again, stronger now as he lets the walls build up around him.  He’ll strap on his boots, slap a strong look on his face, and drown his emotions.  He’s never needed anyone before, it’s always been Dean Winchester against the world.  How could he let himself believe that one angel would make that any different?

so it just hit me that when dean runs into emmanuel!cas for the first time

considering all that cas had done, dean has every right to be pissed (and we do see a little bit of that come up later)

hell, especially if he had even the briefest thought that cas had ditched him all that time, why wouldn’t he be pissed

but instead

once the initial shock wears off he just looks

sad

and full of yearning

CAN I JUST SAY SOMETHING

Apparently, 9×03 brought on a lot of “butthurt” and “wank”, mostly because of how Cas’ gender was interpreted (Hey man, just because he did it with a girl, doesn’t mean he won’t do it with a guy. Sexuality is fluid. Anything is possible). Some people claim that this alleged “interpretation” apparently cancels out Destiel being canon.

I would just like to point out the scenes above.

I’ve always maintained that Destiel has been canon since Mary Winchester told Dean (while still in her womb) that angels were watching over him. It’s been canon since Cas pulled Dean out of hell. It’s been canon since Cas gave everything for Dean. It’s been canon since Dean overturned purgatory looking for Cas. And it’s been canon since Dean and Cas pretty much renounced God and turned to each other.

The whole appeal of Destiel is that they have this certain je ne sais quoi between them that is definitely deeper and more profound than most other relationships. Their bond transcends sex and “I love you’s”. It transcends physical intimacy and romanticism. Their bond is “I kept your trenchcoat for you”, “I need you”, “I’ll die for you” and “I’ll give up everything for you”.

Having sex with someone doesn’t always automatically make that someone the most important thing in your life. Having sex with someone doesn’t automatically cancel out every meaningful relationship you’ve ever had thus far.

I don’t think Destiel shippers should be threatened by the events of 9×03, because Dean and Cas’ relationship isn’t about that. Cas was just simply discovering aspects of humanity. And it’s fine.

The only time you should feel threatened is if Dean or Cas decide to do the emotional eye fuck with someone else. Because that is signature Destiel.
(And if said emotional eye fuck includes promises of devotion and salvation)

Also, if you’re going to force Dean and Cas out of their “comfort zone” or “normal zone” (which is personal space distance bordering on intimate space distance without actually touching) by saying that you want them to make out or say “I love you” or some sappy shit that they would never say to each other because that would be out of character, just because you want to prove to the world that you’re not delusional and that there IS something going on there…
I’m going to request you not to do that, because I think that is a petty reason to want that and is not worth the compromise in their current relationship.

Fuck the world. If they don’t see it, it’s not your job to give them glasses. It’s their loss, not yours.
