Dean: *squints slightly from a freaking BULLET WOUND GOING THROUGH HIS SHOULDER*
Sam: Omfg Dean don’t be such a wuss.

THIS IS A THING INSTILLED IN THEM BY JOHN.

JUST SAYIN’.

fuck john winchester

here’s my headcanon for this scene:

Sam’s always been great with the victims because he’s good at reading them and knowing what they need. Sometimes he speaks gently and calms them down, other times he grabs their arm and yells that they can freak out later but right now they need to run.

Dean’s got a bullet in his shoulder, demons are after them, Henriksen wont listen and has left them like sitting ducks in that jail cell. Dean was probably thinking his normal self-hate routine of “Sammy’s gonna die and it’s all my fault.” Sam needed to get Dean to focus on the situation so they could figure out how to deal with it. Fucked up as it sounds, Sam knew he needed to be John for a minute because Dean always snapped into soldier mode when John was around

WAIT GUYS

WHAT IF SEASON ONE/TWO SAM WAS A PROPHET

I MEAN HEADACHES, VISIONS OF THE FUTURE…

AND WHEN HE DIED CHUCK WAS MADE INTO THE NEW PROPHET AND THAT’S WHY HE NEVER HAD ANY MORE VISIONS

this could actually make tons of sense

That would make more sense than in the canon where Sam is “LOL nope no more headaches anymore LOL just took some ibuprofen it’s all good now”

But it was Azazel’s influence making them experience what they did, right? And who else died at the end of season two? Azazel. So I’m thinking that whatever power was in Azazel’s blood probably died when he did. That’s not an unheard of idea.

Oh, HOLY SHITCAKES…

well, yes.

What, I was the only one who shouted “exactly!” at the screen when Mrs Tran said that?

That’s part of the communications disconnect I’ve been hammering away on.  Because Sam is thinking that they’re brothers, and brothers don’t do that.  But Dean’s mindset isn’t brother, no matter what he calls it.  It’s PARENT.

John went to hell for Dean.  Dean went to hell for Sam.  Sam isn’t a parent, he can’t understand that level of love (and he shouldn’t).  But because of that, he can’t understand how to tell Dean “it’s okay, I’m grown up now, you have to let go” in the way most teenagers learn how to deal with their parents – and Dean has no experience of disengaging from his own father, who held onto him even after death…. (and so did Bobby, for that matter).

*flappy hands* THAT!

I sort of feel like anyone who doesn’t realize that Sam is Dean’s son in all the ways that matter isn’t watching the same show….
