If you would feel ok taking a dog away from a young girl who is confined to a wheel chair, fining her family if they objected, and then killing the dog, there may be a place for you in city government in Moreauville, Louisiana!
On October 13, the village voted to ban pit bulls and Rottweilers.
A letter was sent out to owners saying that if they didn’t get rid of them by December 1, then they would be taken for “further disposition.”
The dog pictured above is a pit bull named Zeus. He is owned by a girl named O’Hara Owens, whose neck problems require her to wear a brace and use a wheel chair. Zeus has never been accused of any aggressive behavior, and he’s a huge comfort to O’Hara:
“If anything ever happened to him, I would just shut down,” she said. […] She says Zeus acts as a sort of “therapy dog,” providing love and support for her and her other brothers and sisters.
“I can sit here if I’m in pain, he comes and he notices it before I even make any noise,” she said.
O’Hara’s family says they will not surrender Zeus, to which Moreauville Alderman Penn Lemoine replies that the village government will take the dog by force, fine the family, and kill Zeus:
We asked Lemoine about dog attacks…
“There have been, but I don’t think they’re documented,” he said.
And, if they plan to kill the dogs they collect on December 1…
“I’d rather not elaborate on that,” he said.
“Is that what it is? Are you going to kill the dogs?” asked reporter, Brooke Buford.
“If that’s what the ordinance says, then that’s what it says,” Lemoine responded.
However, Lemoine did admit that the town might reconsider in the face of enough uproar, so O’Hara’s family created a petition for exactly that purpose. If you wouldn’t feel ok taking a dog away from a young girl who is confined to a wheel chair, fining her family if they objected, and then killing the dog, you can sign that petition here.
Hopefully, the ordinance will be overturned. I hope and think it will, thanks to the media attention and public outcry over this patently ridiculous law. But breed-specific legislation like this is not an isolated incident, and it is not ok. Learn more about this cruel abuse of animals—and liberty—here.
OKAY GUYS THIS PETITION NEEDS AT LEAST 20000 MORE SIGNATURES THE BAN IS IMPLEMENTED TODAY/TOMORROW.
the amount of money members of the spn “family” are willing to spend to shame and humiliate misha knows no bounds featuring kelios, kyline and winchester bros mod vinnie aka some of the very fine people involved in the spn fan movie real class acts
Yeah, I dunno. I’m not as up in the arms about this as some people seem to be. And, yeah, if the people weren’t known Misha-haters, this would be cute and funny banter.
But as they are, it’s suspect, but I have 0 energy to burn anyone at the stake.
I’m just here for the second reply, honestly. Can we just, for once, not expend energy on this?
if it doesn’t upset you, you could always choose to ignore this post.
personally, I’m pretty upset because these are people who go out of their way to trash Misha as a person, father, actor, etc.
everyone knows kelios and kyline hate misha and those who don’t can see on their twitter accounts. honestly i don’t give a shit what they think or say but there are fucking limits and going to cons with passive-aggressive bs to misha’s face is going too far.
and apparently they’re thinking of making this a new tradition
The last post
Okay that’s it. That’s it. I’ve seen this post on my dash like five times today, and I scrolled past five times. I’m not gonna do it again. I AM reblogging this. This is me reblogging it. #WANK #WANK FOR TS This is me wanking. Also, these are the people you will support when you support the SPN fan movie. Again, if you are a Misha/Castiel/Destiel/Team Free Will fan, reconsider before supporting it. And signal boost because too many people in this fandom are still unaware.
So proud of my mother for doing her own research after I sent her that meme. A sign she hung in her car window.
Stay woke
Is this true?
Not only is it true, it gets worse. The Susan G Komen For The Cure Foundation has actually successfully sued “competing” charities, because (paraphrasing) their “message or branding was infringing.”
You read that correctly: they took money that people had donated to cure cancer, and hired attorneys with it, to sue ANOTHER group of people trying to find a cure for cancer, who, in turn, had to us their donated money to hire their own legal counsel to defend themselves.
Yeah signal boost because not enough people know about this and seriously FUCK SUSAN G. KOMEN THEY ARE THE ACTUAL WORST
i’m so mad about this but basically mitch (clif’s brother) tweeted a thing yesterday asking for money–and it’s a lot of money–because (in the words of a friend) he’s “essentially bankrupted himself funding his inflated, badly-budgeted vanity project”.
now i wouldn’t mind people donating if we were given a detailed breakdown of the expenses and a budget plan, but we’re not. according to mitch they need $200,000+ and for what? to get his roof fixed and mend his son’s car brakes? yeah okay. it’s inconceivable for a small indie project like this to need such a huge budget.
mitch is not a part of the spn crew or fandom he just happens to be the brother of the guy who provides security for the show’s two main stars. no one asked him and clif to make this movie and now they’re exploiting the sheer size of fandom for money to fund it. it’s like mitch has looked at this large, passionate group of people and said “haha i bet i can get $$$$ out of them by promising them a few cast interviews lol”.
i don’t want any faction of spn fandom to be exploited like that, but the worrying thing is that most of the people who will donate and have already donated (and i’m definitely not saying it’s everyone) are some of the most hateful and spiteful people in fandom who will use this opportunity to get even closer with clif than they already are and try and present misha/misha fans/destiel/destiel fans in a bad light. there has been controversy in the past about clif’s tendency to favour this group of fans and to take advantage of them (people have recently come out saying that clif offered them access to j2 in return for sexual favours).
as if all that wasn’t bad enough, people who have politely raised concerns with mitch on twitter have been blocked and ignored–which is definitely not professional or reassuring. they’re also now charging people to see the finished product on top of asking for all this money to make it, when originally it was supposed to be free.
if you want a documentary that will portray all aspects of fandom fairly, won’t exploit fans while doing it and has a much more modest and fully planned budget of $2,700 then please consider donating to dirtyovercoat’s project ‘wayward’. you can read all about it here where the creator explains in way more detail than the kostermans ever have about what the doc will involve and how the money will be spent.
also if you want more info on how gross and skeevy clif is and how sketchy this whole movie is, there’s some more stuff right here.
Signal boosting for everyone still unaware. Especially the last link shows some actual arguments that point out that there is something incredibly sketchy going on, and I don’t want people investing their money in a project that wasn’t thought out well and might never even be finished to begin with.
Also very relevant to add, this post with actual links and sources that shows just how shady things are getting: [x]
Please take care of yourself and each other, and don’t throw your money into (what very much looks to be) a bottomless pit.
Hey, everyone–sorry my blog has been dead for a while now. (I swear it’s not because I’m dead.) I’ve had to quiet down because life’s giving me trouble, but now things have become a Real Emergency–no one I know personally can help, so this is me ringing all the alarm bells.
My dad and I are being evicted. We have to vacate the house tomorrow. (Today being 09/18/15.) We don’t have a home to go to, but we do have friends to stay with. Our five rescue cats don’t, and living out of a sedan with five cats sounds hellish, for both cats and humans.
We are in Miami, Florida, and will be going up to Orlando/Ocala. If you live anywhere near those areas, or anywhere in between, please please please consider taking one of my cats in temporarily–for a few weeks, at the very longest. When we come back for the cat we will give you $5 per day for their room/board.
Two of them are kittens around a year old, two are adults (6 years), and one is an older cat, maybe 10 or so. The younger ones are all female. The older cat is disabled because his previous owner let him go outside and get hit by a car, and he can’t run or jump, but he can still get around and use the litter box. All of them get on with other cats, but only the oldest has ever seen dogs/kids much. I don’t think the others would have a problem, they are very nice cats, but it would be a new one on them. They are all indoor cats, and a couple of them you probably couldn’t get outdoors.
If you can help, for the love of God don’t message me on Tumblr, I’ll probably never see it. You can call/text me at 786-897-3148 or email at redmarshall93@gmail.com
If you can’t help, please reblog–I really, really need someone to help me.
I donated but after finding out the WinchesterBros mods who helped to do the documentary are Misha haters, I’ve requested a refund.
For those who have contributed and since changed their minds, you can get a refund from Indiegogo before end of the campaign. Follow the link above. And signal boost, please; this may apply to many people. Thanks.
Chris, the con photographer, would like you all to remove the photo of Jensen and Thomas, for the copy was taken and uploaded by a fan without permission.
One of two fake abortion clinics on the same street as the REAL center, the EMW’s Women Center here in downtown Louisville. This one is right next door to the actual clinic and this place is seriously a nightmarish hell-hole for any unsuspecting women tricked by the anti’s. They assure you this this the abortion clinic, they get you inside, and then offer you food and drink—which of course, means that once you realize your mistake, you can’t run next door and catch your actual appointment, since you need to fast.
Women have come out of this building crying, and on a few rare occasions, without their pants. They take you to a back room for an ultrasound, have you remove your pants, and then begin lecturing you on the sins of aborting. They do not give you back your pants until you have listened, and a few women tricked this far refused to listen and stormed out furious, ashamed, and in their underwear.
This is the anti-choice agenda—lying, tricking, shaming, and embarrassing women to the brink of hysterics in hopes that she carry the pregnancy to term. Forcing her, through lies and manipulation, to do with her body what THEY want, not what is best for her.
There is no “choice” at the Louisville “Women’s Choice” clinics. Just abuse, shame, and bigots who would rather undress a woman to make her feel vulnerable and then explain how awful of a person she is than let her make HER. CHOICE.
I reblogged this at first without checking if it was legit but it turns out it is legit and people need to be warned. A simple google search is all the evidence you need.
And as a general rule: if the place says “crisis pregnancy center” or anything similar, IT IS A TRICK. Real women’s health clinics are typically called “women’s health clinics”. They do not specialize in ONLY pregnancy, because a uterus owner has more health concerns than just that uterus. Even if you get past the name, Planned Parenthood’s full description is as a health clinic, because they screen or refer to physicians who screen for cancers and diseases, as well as educate about pregnancy (yes, they can and do explain what to expect throughout pregnancy to new mothers who want their pregnancies. My mother found her Lamaze class through a PP.)
Crisis pregnancy centers cannot call themselves “clinics” because they do not actually offer licensed medical care. If they try to use “clinic”, remember that ethical doctors would never use “crisis” in their practice’s name; a crisis is a difficult choice or situation, often with moral implications (i.e.: “crisis of faith”, “financial crisis”, “mid-life crisis”, etc.) It has nothing to do with receiving medical treatment. No one with a broken leg is having a crisis; they’re having a medical emergency. Words matter.
HOLY FUCK! I have one of those Crisis Pregnancy Centers nearby!! Signal Boost. Thanks for the info!
It disgusts me that these places are actually legal to operate.
Equality Golbat: “When you donate hair to Locks of Love, there is an 80% chance it will wind up in the garbage.”
I can get similar odds by literally throwing my hair at a garbage can.
Statistically, a charity that uses less than two thirds of its donation money for its central mission is in the bottom 10% of charities, in terms of efficiency and fiscal responsibility. Locks of Love uses less than one third of the hair they receive. (and I’m pretty sure they aren’t using the hair to buy TV spots.)
I should also mention that they actually don’t give people hair. They sell it. What good is a charity that doesn’t give free things to people in need? That’s not a charity. That’s a for-profit business.
Wigs for kids is also great. When I donated I went through them because they were the only group that would accept donations of just 8” (and hair that was dyed.) Either way, don’t do locks of love.
Spread the word, because people still think Locks of Love is THE hair charity, when in reality, they rather suck.
