May 14th 2016 (which is in a couple weeks) will be the 7th anniversary of Cas rebelling for Dean. Cas spent his first 8 months on the show working for heaven but joined the Winchesters almost exactly 7 years ago.

Jess the EMT and Cesar raising horses just fucking kill me

Isn’t there someone else on this show who’s known for healing people? And another character who has a western fetish? Hmmm

They said they’d been together 7 years didn’t cas show up four seasons ago

They’ve known Cas for almost 8 years (the end of season 11 will make 8 years) but Cas didn’t defy heaven and join up with them until the very end of season 4, so he’s been with the Winchesters for almost 7 years.

So Dean had been comparing Jessie and Cesar’s relationship to his and Sam’s, as one of brothers. He originally identified with them believing that their “bickering” and obvious closeness was because they were like him and Sam. When Cesar corrected him, and gruffly said “More like an old married couple,” I think Cesar was half-expecting a negative reaction to that. He was giving Dean A Significant Look, sort of daring him to make some kind of bigoted remark.

Of course Dean wouldn’t do that, but I’m sure a gay couple hunting together have had their share of run-ins with intolerant people.

But Dean’s reaction was really interesting. He gives a little, oh OH! and then he realizes that HE’S the one who’s sort of put his own foot in his mouth. He’s not weirded out by THEIR relationship, but at the inadvertent implication that he and Sam have that kind of relationship, as well.

Ever since Dean’s “Ew, don’t they know we’re brothers?” “I don’t think it matters to them,” “That’s sick!” judgment on his own relationship with Sam, even on top of all the early seasons jokes that they were “together together,” and Dean’s resolute insistence at every turn that no, they’re just brothers, I can’t help but see this any other way.

Dean’s discomfort had zero to do with the happy married gay couple. It had 100% to do with the fact that he’d accidentally implied that he and Sam were also a happy married gay couple. Which they’re not.

I mean, otherwise what would the point be of ASKING THEM SPECIFICALLY what it’s like to “settle down with another hunter,” because obviously Dean’s been hunting with Sam for ages, but they’re not now, nor will they ever be, “settled down” together. So clearly, he’s inquiring what it might be like to actually settle down with someone.

Now that I’ve typed this all out, I kinda feel like I already made this post?

*checks to make sure I really haven’t actually made this post yet*

Nah, I’ve just been dwelling on it for the last 3 hours. hahaha oh my.

Dude, you can make this post every day and twice on Sundays, because HOLY SHIT YES THIS.

THIS ALL CANT BE A COINCIDENCE RIGHT? *PULLS HAIR OUT OF HEAD* IM STRESSING I JUST WANT DEAN TO ADMIT HIS FEELINGS. OH BOY I CANT WAIT FOR EP 21

supernatural is not a e.e. cummings poem. they lay the symbolism and parallels pretty thick. half of this season has been dean stressing out about cas’ wellbeing and every fucking person dean talks to telling him to ~follow his heart~ while dean subtly keeps asking dating someone in the life. what is even happening.

So the THEN segment largely featured Cas(ifer).

The cold open was about a little gay boy whose older brother promised to get them both out of their little homophobic town, and then was body-snatched by the chitters leaving the little gay brother to suffer alone…

Then the setup to the hunt was Dean not sleeping because he’s worried about getting Cas back from Amara. He’s 100% worried about Cas.

And then the chitters turn out to be a huge glaring metaphor for “coming out” and being denied by family. “Sexually deviant” monsters that drive “nice people” into doing awful things.

But the little gay boy grew up, found love, and someone to support his quest to hunt down the things that took his brother. Together.

And now that they’ve come to the end of their mission, their job of stomping out the monster that lurked in their past and haunted them, they are literally going to ride off into the sunset together to start a horse ranch. With Dean’s blessing.

After Dean asked what it was like to “settle down with another hunter.”

Well alrighty then. I think that’s pretty clear.

…and to end their quest, they had to go back to the beginning…

And hunter husbands could be THAT easy. No rom-com crap, no fluff, not always making out. Just two hunters who love and support each other while still being badass.

Oh yeah, and Jessy’s love for Cesar takes away from his love of Matty exactly 0%.

Which is my take away and what I think was the entire point of this episode.

Also –

SAM AND DEAN DO NOT HAVE TO DIE AT THE END OF THE SERIES IT IS POSSIBLE FOR HUNTERS TO GET THE HAPPY ENDING GODDAMMIT. THEY CAN DRINK BEER AND ANSWER PHONES IN THE BUNKER AND BE THE NEW BOBBYS AND CAS CAN LEARN HOW TO COOK AND THEY CAN BE SAFE AND CONTENT AND REST ON THEIR GODDAMN HARD WON LAURELS.

I’m ok.
