On December 22nd, a twitter account called _taralarson started posting hate on Misha Collins. Basically, this user accused Misha of sexual harassment of minors and women in photo ops at cons. “Tara” began to tweet samples of these pictures without permission to celebrities and tabloid life ruiners like TMZ.
Most recently, on Christmas night, she posted a collage of pics with a tweet Misha made to Donald Trump, and tagged Trump as well as Creation, the people who head up conventions.
However, “Tara Larson” isn’t a real person. In reality, this is a sock account for Travis Aaron Wade’s assistant, Vicki.
Vicki admitted that she didn’t know of anyone Misha had ever hurt. Her only goal is to damage his reputation and career. As TAW’s personal assistant, we can make a reasonable assumption that he’s aware of this behavior. We have further evidence of this from a tweet TAW made a few days prior to this media assault, which he has since deleted:
This is ridiculous. It is libel, it is potentially damaging to Misha’s career, and anyone involved should be ashamed of themselves.
The situation has gone from bad to worse. On May 19, four people in the SPN fandom received Cease & Desist letters from Travis Aaron Wade’s lawyers. It’s ExorcisingEmily, Lua, Ash and a minor who he previously groomed and harassed. (Unlike the other three, she hasn’t tweeted about it, and also she’s a minor, so because I have a shred of decency, unlike Travis Aaron Wade, I want to keep her name out of this as far as possible.) He’s demanding that they take down every post about him, on all social media platforms, in 10 days or he’s threatening lawsuits and damages.
To spell this out: Travis Aaron Wade groomed and sexually harassed girls and women, bullied them, harassed and cyberstalked them, somehow found out their home addresses, and is now trying to scare them into silence.
Travis Aaron Wade keeps escalating and he seems pathologically unable to stop. This is a time when the fandom needs to come together. Please sign this petition to have him banned from cons and stop his access to young women in the fandom. Have people who care about your safety sign it too. Sign it even if you don’t go to cons but worry about the fans who do. Let’s show how we feel about this specimen. Let’s show him he messed with the wrong fandom.
More people are coming forward with their experiences with Travis Aaron Wade. While I’d made some pretty pointed subtweets, or remarked on particular situations, I’ve only recently on Twitter posted a more complete account of events from June 2015 to present. I’ve posted the following on Twitter, and am moving it here by the suggestion of other fans, so that fans can be aware and keep themselves safe within the fandom.
I realize that in this fandom, taking a fan’s word for things (whether you like them or not) can be difficult: we’re a contentious lot, and we do like our drama. I’ve attempted to illustrate some points that would otherwise just be my word below, so you don’t have to take things on faith.
In short (because this gets long): Travis Aaron Wade has stalked me, harassed me, bypassed blocks to continue harassing me, attempted to get me to strong-arm other fans for him, and has crossed all personal boundaries.
I have no problem with fans: if you’re a fan of his, that’s fine! But I ask that you all please be safe, and not be used to report back to him about other fans, enabling his behaviors.
