anyway the vast majority of dairy calves reach adulthood, killing calves isn’t a necessary part of the process, the only way to support veal is to buy and eat it which most people do not.
this also fails to acknowledge that most of the calves being born are heifers due to sexed semen technology
I find it weird that people latch on to dairy, but completely ignore how (some) fertility drugs are made…
almost like they don’t have a damn clue what they’re talking about!
It should have occurred to me that of course a dairy farmer would want to select the sex of their calves. It didn’t, but it should have. It just makes financial sense, when you only need one, maybe two bulls.
